Itinerary and highlights
Start at the Place du Marché, the historic heart of Vevey where a colorful market has been held every Tuesday and Saturday morning since 1808. Don’t miss the Grenette, the 16th-century grain hall.
Walk up Quai Perdonnet, named after engineer Louis Perdonnet, to enjoy views over Lake Geneva, the terraced vineyards of Lavaux and the Alps. This is also where the town’s industrial history takes shape: in 1867 Henri Nestlé developed the first powdered infant milk here.
Cultural stops
Along the route you will find the statue of Charlie Chaplin (installed in 2016) and Chaplin’s World in Corsier-sur-Vevey; the 8-metre Fork of the Alimentarium sculpture; and the Alimentarium, the world’s first museum dedicated to food. On the opposite shore, the Swiss Museum of Games, housed in a medieval castle in La Tour-de-Peilz, preserves more than 10,000 games from around the world.
Gastronomy and a break
Stop at the Grand Hôtel du Lac, whose Belle Époque façade was inaugurated in 1868 by architect Ernest Burnat: a 5-star establishment, member of Relais & Châteaux, with a Michelin-starred restaurant and spa — an excellent option for a refined pause.
