SITA Border Flow Lane: toward stop-free border crossings

SITA introduces Border Flow Lane, a solution that shifts border police decisions upstream of the journey to allow low-risk travelers to pass through immigration halls without stopping.

Checks performed before arrival

According to SITA, Border Flow Lane transforms border control into a data-driven process: pre-departure checks and confirmation on arrival while the traveler moves through the immigration area. The company stresses that today more is known about a passenger before boarding than ever before, thanks to passenger data sharing and risk-assessment tools.

Operational gains and security

• SITA reports speed gains of up to eight times compared with traditional eGates.
• More than 75% of travelers could be authorised before departure, allowing officers to focus on higher-risk cases.
• The solution aims to increase the capacity of immigration halls without expanding physical infrastructure.

Participation remains voluntary: travelers choose to opt in and use authorised biometric data. SITA specifies that authorities retain full control of identity checks and admission decisions, and that the design aims to preserve security, privacy and user choice.
